Data Deletion

Summary

You have the right to delete all personal data PillMitra holds about you, at any time and without giving a reason. We honour deletion requests within 7 calendar days(the timeline mandated by India's DPDP Act 2023, well under our internal SLA). There are three ways to request deletion — pick whichever is easiest.

Method 1 — WhatsApp (fastest)

Send the message DELETE DATA to PillMitra on WhatsApp. Your data is deleted within seconds. No login, no form, no waiting.

What gets deleted immediately: your medications, dose history, language preference, stored address, and personal name. Your phone number is retained in a redacted form for 30 days strictly for fraud-prevention audit (then permanently purged).

Method 2 — Email

Send an email to privacy@pillmitra.in with subject line "Data Deletion Request".

Include in the body:

• The WhatsApp phone number you used with PillMitra (with country code, e.g. +919876543210)
• Confirmation that you are the account owner

We'll acknowledge within 24 hours and complete the deletion within 7 days. You'll receive a confirmation email when it's done.

Method 3 — Written request

For postal requests, address them to:

What gets deleted

• All medications and dose schedules
• All dose-confirmation history (taken / skipped / missed)
• Saved delivery addresses, location pins
• Caregiver associations (your caregivers' data is not touched, only the link is severed)
• Stored name, language preference
• Consent records — kept for 30 days post-deletion strictly as audit proof we honoured your request, then purged
• Prescription images — already deleted within seconds of OCR parsing; this step removes the parsed structured data

What doesn't get deleted (and why)

• Redacted phone number hash — kept for 30 days to prevent spam-create-delete cycles abusing our free service. Cannot be reversed to your real number.
• Aggregate anonymous metrics— "X patients took medicine on time today", with no individual identifiers, contributes to our public adherence reporting. Cannot be traced back to you.
• Caregiver records where you appear as a caregiver— if you opted in as a caregiver for someone else, your caregiver-side data is governed by that patient's record. They must request their own deletion to remove it.

If you don't have WhatsApp access anymore

Send an email from any address (we'll verify ownership over email by asking a confirmation question only the account owner would know — e.g. the last medicine in your reminder list, or the date you signed up). This safeguards against impersonation.
